Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has requested the people across the country to inform the concerned authorities if there is any load shedding during Sehri, Iftar and Namaj (prayer) times.
“We’ll take stern punitive action against the responsible persons,” she said while addressing a function after inaugurating the 3.1-kilometre Kuril flyover in the capital yesterday.
Mentioning the tremendous success made in the power and energy sector, Hasina said electricity generation has risen to 6675 MW from 3200 MW of 2009.
She said that as the government increased power generation significantly there is no reason for load shedding during Sehri, Iftar and Namaj (prayer) times.
“But there are some culprits in some areas, who sometimes cut off power supply during these times,” she added.
The Prime Minister said the government is monitoring the power supply very closely. The people of an area should inform the concerned authority about such unusual load shedding and the government would take stern punitive action against those found guilty.
She also said the Power Division has been directed to enforce load shedding for two hours a day so that the people don't forget about the load shedding.
“Without such load shedding people might forget what was load shedding and what the sufferings were during load shedding in the previous government's tenure,” she added,
