State Minister for Law Quamrul Islam on Sunday said that no one but the BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami and some corrupt intellectuals supports the caretaker government system.
“Awami League doesn’t hold any controversial polls. The next polls will be held in time in a free and credible manner under an interim government. No unelected government will be allowed to come to power even for an hour,” he said.
The state minister said this while addressing a meeting of Awami League Dhaka city unit at its office at Bangabandhu Avenue in the city.
The meeting decided to hold a commemorative meeting marking the National Mourning Day on August 30 at 3 pm at Suhrawardy Udyan.
Prime Minister and Awami League president Sheikh Hasina will attend the program as the chief guest.
City unit leaders Kamal Ahmed Majumder, among others, addressed it held with its acting president MA Aziz in the chair.
