Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has allotted two shops at ‘Uttara BGB Market’ to the family members of two BGB men who were killed by Hefajat-e-Islam men in Narayanganj on May 6.
BGB Director General Maj General Aziz Ahmed formally handed over the keys of the shops to the victims’ family members at a function held at the BGB headquarters in the city on Sunday.
Nayek Subedar Shah Alam and Sepoy Md Lablu of BGB Battalion-48 were killed in an attack allegedly by members of Hefajat men near Kanchpur Bridge on May, hours after they were driven off the capital.
Lablu’s father Abdus Sobhan and Shah Alam’s wife Nasrin Akter Aleya received the keys from the DG BGB, said BGB headquarters sources.
The BGB took the initiative with a view to ensuring income-generating source of the two families.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also gave saving certificates of Tk 10 lakh to each of the two families of the victims at her office on Sunday.
Earlier, BGB provided Tk 5 lakh while Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) 1 lakh to each of the families.
