According to the prosecution, when advocate Imdadul Haque Talukdar, a lawyer of Dhaka Bar, was going to the residence of his brother Mohammad Harunur Rashid, a retired secretary, at Sher-e-Banglanagar in a taxicab on April 28, 2006, a gang of muggers in another taxicab intercepted his vehicle and tried to snatch his belongings.
As Imdadul tried to resist the muggers, they strangled him to death.
Later, the muggers fled the scene leaving Talukder’s body at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases and Hospital. The taxicab was abandoned near the street between the Parliament building and Civil Defence office.
Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, younger brother of the victim, filed a case with Tejgaon Police Station in this connection.
Investigation officer of the case CID inspector Magfurul Wadud submitted a chargesheet against the seven people on September 14, 2008 and the court framed charges against the convicts on January 25, 2011.
