Barrister Abdur Razzaq, the principal counsel for condemned Jamaat leader Abdul Quader Mollah, on Tuesday said there is a scope for the review of the SC judgment saying it is the constitutional right of his client.
Emerging from the SC, Barrister Razzaq said that they would go for a review plea before it within 30 days after receiving the certified copy of the full text of the judgment, terming it a wrong one. ”It’s an unfortunate chapter in the judiciary’s history.”
He, however, said they are bound to abide by the SC judgment that came with a majority view sentencing lifer Mollah to death.
Asked whether they will pray for mercy to the President, Razzaq said the question will come after exhausting the review plea. “I don’t make any comment in this regard as the matter depends on the mindset of his client and his family.”
BNP chairperson’s adviser senior advocate Khandkar Mahbub Hossain, also the counsel for Mollah, echoed Barrister Razzaq and said, “We’ll go for review to have this wrong verdict corrected.”
