Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's son Sajeeb Wazed Joy on Tuesday said it is impossible to defeat Awami League.
“I believe Awami League has huge vote bank. If the party's leaders and activists work in an organised manner and voters come forward, it is impossible to defeat Awami League,” he said.
Joy was talking to the press briefing during the interval of a meeting with secretaries and members of the party’s election conducting committee held at the Awami League President Sheikh Hasina's political office at Dhanmondi in the city.
About the meeting, Sajeeb Wazed Joy said the meeting was organised for designing the party’s election preparation strategy.
“The next election is very important for the country. We formed the government pledging to implement ‘Vision 2021’. We are halfway to fulfilling the pledge... still the other half is left to be fulfilled,” he said.
Joy continued: “It is very important for us to win the (next) polls to complete the development works. For this reason, we’ve to go forward in a planned way.”
Urging the party top leaders to go out in the field organizationally ahead of the next parliamentary polls, he said: “You’ve been working hard over the last four and half years and did a lot for the development of the country.”
Prime Minister's adviser HT Imam, Awami League joint general secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif, Food Minister Dr Abdur Razzaque and Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister M Faruk Khan were, among others, present in the meeting.
