The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) has urged the government to extend the deadline for income tax return submission by a month till October 31.
“The FBCCI has already sent a recommendation to the National Board of Revenue (NBR) and the Finance Ministry,” the apex trade body said in a statement on Monday. The deadline for submitting income tax return expires on September 30.
Justifying their request, the FBCCI said it will not be possible to submit income tax return timely due to coming Eid-ul-Azha and Durga Puja. “So, the FBCCI got a request from the business community to convey the government for extending the deadline.”
The FBCCI also thanked the government and NBR for successfully arranging income tax fair in the country and pledged FBCCI’s support to government in realizing income tax properly.
The seven-day Income Tax Fair, arranged to motivate people to pay taxes regularly, ended on Sunday posting a collection of Tk 1117.43 crore from taxpayers.
A total of 12,337 new taxpayers have been registered during the period while some 1,32,017 income tax returns submitted during the period.
