Awami League Presidium member Mohammad Nasim yesterday asked the government officials to abide by the directives of the present government till January 24 next or face the music.
"Follow government directives till January 24 next, or else, you’ll have to face music... you’ll be sent home," he said.
Nasim, also a former Home Minister, came up with the warning while addressing a discussion organized by Jatiya Char Neta Parishad at Bangabandhu Avenue in the city.
The Awami League leader also urged those who are on important duties of the government not to make any unnecessary comment. "The Prime Minister and we have been working relentlessly for the country’s development. Please don't put us into trouble through unnecessary talks," he added.
About the opposition BNP’s October 24 deadline for the government to accept its demand for caretaker government system or face a movement, the ruling party leader said, "They issued the threat for nothing...They’ve no capability to wage any movement. We’ll hold the election remaining in power. Nothing on earth can resist the polls."
Awami League Dhaka city unit general secretary Mofazzel Hossain Chowdhury Maya, among others, spoke at the program held with Jatiya Char Neta Parishad vice-president Sirajul Islam in the chair.
