Jessore: Apparently irked by party leaders and activists’ greater concentration on nomination and election issues, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Sunday asked her party followers to take all-out preparations for waging a strong movement against the government instead of getting busy with election nomination and party posts.
“Don’t get busy lobbying for nominations and party posts. Take all-out preparations for a decisive movement to force the government to arrange the next election under a non-party government,” she said.
Khaleda came up with the directive while addressing party leaders and activists in front of Jessore Circuit House at noon before starting for Khulna.
The BNP chief apparently came up with the directive as she on her way from Gulshan to Jessore has seen the party leaders and activists staging huge showdown to attract her attention to get party ticket to contest the next general election instead of putting in efforts to intensify the movement.
Khaleda asked the party leaders and activists not to think right now about who gets what rather to think what they have done for people.
Mentioning that BNP has all-out preparations for the election, Khaleda said she will ask the party men to think about polls nomination only when she will give them directions to do that.
Khaleda, also the leader of the opposition in parliament, said she will announce the new course of action after her two public rallies in Chittagong and Dhaka after October 25.
“The government in the face of movement will take decision either it’ ll accept our demand or move to the path of violence,” she told the gathering.
The BNP chief also assured the party’s dedicated and competent leaders and activists that they would get the proper evaluation when the time will come.
Later, she started her journey for Khulna where she will address a public rally at Khulna Circuit house ground in the afternoon.
Earlier on Saturday, Khaleda arrived in Jessore from capital Dhaka and stayed overnight at the local circuit house.
