Unidentified criminals torched four vehicles at different parts of the capital on Tuesday, hours after the ICT-1 verdict sentencing BNP leader Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury to death.
Firefighters and witnesses said 5-6 unidentified men set fire to a pick-up van pouring petrol in the city’s Fulbaria area around 2 pm, causing burn injuries to its driver Nurul Islam.
He was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
On information, firefighters rushed in and put out the fire.
Meanwhile, another pick-up van was set afire near Bank Asia at Shantinagar around 3 pm.
Besides, unidentified criminals set fire to a car of police vehicle pool at Kakrail around 5 pm. Police arrested three people from the spot in this connection.
Another private car was torched near Fakirapool Bazar around 1:30 pm.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Motijheel zone) Mehdi Hasan said activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) and Swechhasebak Dal might have kinks with the arson attacks.
