State Minister for Law Advocate Quamrul Islam said the culprits involved in leaking out the ICT verdict against Salauddin Quader Chowdhury will be arrested soon.
“We know them and you know them, too. Just wait a bit to see who are involved in the incident…they’ll be arrested soon,” he told a press briefing at the Secretariat yesterday.
The junior minister said the International Crimes Tribunal filed a General Diary (GD) in connection with the allegation over the verdict leak.
Quamrul also said a team of Detective Branch of Police has been given the task of investigating the incident. “DB police have launched investigation…I can guess who are involved in the verdict leak and they’ll be unmasked soon,” he said.
About the allegation, he said the copy of the verdict was not leaked out from the Ministry of Law computer. “Whatever happened that happened in the tribunal,” he added.
On the reaction of BNP Standing Committee Member Barrister Moudud Ahmed and Bangladesh Bar Council vice- chairman Khandakar Mahbub Hossain after the verdict, the junior minister termed Mahbub’s remarks shameful as he issued a threat to take action against those involved in the trial process of the tribunal when BNP will return to power.
Terming Mahbub’s threat tantamount to a contempt of court, Quamrul urged him to withdraw his comments.
Responding to another question, he said, “We’ll wait and see what action the court and the lawyers are taking in this regard (threat).”
