Both Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) suffered significant loss on Sunday, the first trading day of the week.
Except a few, all the traded issues suffered loss on the day. The volume of trade in terms of value was also significantly lower in both the bourses. The DSE benchmark index, DSEX plunged below 3900 while the CSE key index, CSCX fell below 7600 mark.
The DSEX lost 66.11 points or 1.67 percent to reach 3883.33 at close of trading today (Sunday). Of the 282 traded issues, only 21 gained while 239 declined and 22 remained unchanged. Shares worth Tk 264.59 crore changed hands on the day.
The day’s top 10 losers at the DSE were Desh Bandhu, United Air, 1st BSRS, FBFIF, Aziz Pipes, Jute Spinners, Imam Button, ICB Sonali 1, and INS Industry.
The CSE key index, CSCX lost 137.26 points to reach 7584.45 at the close today. Of the 212 traded issues, only 15 gained while 188 declined and 9 remained unchanged. The value of the traded issues was Tk 17.80 crore.
Earlier, in the morning, the DSEX lost 14.20 points or 0.35 percent to reach 3934.24 at 11:10 am while the CSCX lost 25.96 points to stand at7695.75, also at 11:10 am today.
