The well marked over North Andaman sea and adjoining area intensified into a depression over the same area, according to a Met office bulletin yesterday.
It was centered at 0900 UTC on Tuesday about 1230 KMS South-southeast of Chittagong port, 1140 KMS South-Southeast of Cox’s Bazar port and 1350 Kms south-Southeast of Mongla port (near LAT 12.0 degree N and long 960 degree E).
It is likely to intensify further and move in West-Northwesterly direction, said a special bulletin of Met Office.
Maximum sustained wind sped within 44 KMS of the depression centre is about 40 KPH rising to 50 KPH in gusts or squalls.
Sea will remain moderate near the depression centre.
Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar and Mongla have been advised to hoist distant cautionary signal no one.
All fishing boats and trawlers over deep sea have been advised to come close to coast and proceed with caution until further notice.
