Kushtia: Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu on Saturday urged opposition leader and BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia to present a proposal on the polls-time government, saying they would accept and implement the proposal if it is for fair election.
“I want Begum Khaleda Zia to come up with a proposal on how the non-party government will be formed and who will lead it. We all will accept the proposal and implement it if it’s in the interest of fair polls,” he said.
The minister was talking to reporters after visiting a Durga Puja mandap at Chithalia village in Mirpur upazila at noon.
Observing that BNP is trying to show its power on streets as part of its old political strategy, Inu said their movement will bring nothing. “Solution lies in dialogue. If a change is to be brought to the Constitution or a law is to be amended, these must be done through discussion. So, Khaleda Zia will have to sit in dialogue.”
He also alleged that the BNP chief skipped dialogue for the last two and a half years. “She does not join talks. This will prove in the future that Khaleda does not want election.”
Inu, also president of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal, said what Khaleda wants is not clear. “It’s not clear whether she wants to impede the war crimes trial or save the tamarind hujurs (clerics) or protect the bombers of Hefajat-e-Islam or save her corrupt sons through creating a troubled atmosphere.”
