The cyclonic storm ‘Madi’ over southwest bay and adjoining area moved slightly northwards on Saturday.
It was centred at 12 pm on Saturday about 1,560 kms southwest of Chittagong port, 1,490 kms southwest of Cox’s Bazar port and 1,445 kms south-southwest of Mongla port, Met office sources said.
It is likely to intensify further and move in a northerly direction.
Maximum sustained wind speed within 54 kms of the storm centre is about 70 kph rising to 92 kph in gusts or squalls.
Sea will remain very rough near the storm centre.
Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar and Mongla have been advised to hoist distant warning signal number 2.
All fishing boats and trawlers over the deep sea have been advised to remain close to the north Bay and proceed with caution till further notice.
They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.
