Visiting UN Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs Oscar Fernández Taranco is likely to sit with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina again today.
Prime Minister’s Office confirmed about the meeting with the Prime Minister at her official residence Ganobhaban at 4pm.
Since the start of his mission here on Saturday, the UN emissary had a series of meetings with the country’s bickering political parties to encourage them to resolve their dispute over the composition of the election-time cabinet through dialogue.
Meanwhile, Taranco had meetings with Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad, Jatiya Party chief HM Ershad, Jamaat-e-Islami, and there is a schedule to hold another meeting with opposition leader Khaleda Zia at about 6 pm today.
On Saturday evening, the UN envoy had meetings with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and opposition leader Khaleda Zia.
Taranco will leave Dhaka on December 10 and report back to the UN chief on the outcome of his Bangladesh visit ahead of the election.
