Private mobile phone operator Robi yesterday announced that they will make the ever-biggest Bangladesh Flag, which will be recorded in the Guinness Book Records.
Robi Axiata Limited, in partnership with Bangladesh Army, will make the world’s biggest Bangladesh Flag at the National Parade Ground in the city on December 16, the country’s Victory Day.
This was revealed by Mahtab Uddin Ahmed, chief financial officer of the company, at a press conference at a city hotel.
Mahtab said the incredible attempt will start in the morning of December 16 with nearly 30,000 volunteers helping create the flag.
Each person will hold a colored placard and the 30,000 people will collectively create the largest flag in the world and shatter a standing Guinness World Record.
The main objective of this event is not only to celebrate the Victory Day but also to show the world the inner strength and unity of the people of Bangladesh, he said.
If the event is successful it will be recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Previously the largest human national flag was created in Pakistan, on October 21, 2012 with 24,200 participants attending the Punjab Youth Festival at the National Hockey Stadium in Lahore.
A Guinness-accredited auditor will be present to oversee the attempt. After successful completion of the event all relevant documents and images will be sent to the Guinness World Record committee for validation.
