After opening the week on a positive nod on Sunday, share price index at Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) returned to the red on the 2nd day of trading on Monday.
The DSE benchmark index, DSEX shed 23.62 points or 0.55 percent to reach 4265.24 at the close of trading today. Of the 289 issues traded, 96 registered gain, 154 declined and 39 remained unchanged.
Shares worth Tk 456.44 crore changed hands at the DSE on the day against Sunday’s Tk 710.08 crore.
The DS30 index also lost 8.53 points or 0.57 percent to reach 1472.32 - down from Sunday’s 1480.86 points.
Meanwhile, due to power failure in the network setup for WAN, Monday’s trading at the DSE was closed at 2:45 pm instead of 2:30 pm.
The day’s top 10 gainers based on open price and last trade price at the DSE were GREENDELT, LIBRAINFU, BEDL, PARAMOUNT, BDAUTOCA, UNIONCAP, BAYLEASING, NHFIL, REPUBLIC and KARNAPHULI.
Besides, Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has imposed penalty of Tk. 10.00 lakh upon Delta Spinners Ltd for contraventions/violations of BAS-16 (for non-disclosure of revaluation of fixed assets) and BAS-1 (true and fair view); Rule 12(2) of Securities and Exchange Rules, 1987; and Section 18 of the Securities and Exchange Ordinance, 1969 (submission of untrue and incorrect financial statements).
Meanwhile, at the Chittagong Stock Exchange, the CSE key index, CSCX also shed 42.72 points to reach 8392.51 at the close yesterday. Of the 226 issues traded, 47 advanced, 157 suffered loss and 22 remained unchanged. The value of the traded issues was Tk 160.08 crore.
