Khaleda trying to foil polls: PM

Faridpur-pmPrime Minister Sheikh Hasina, alleging Opposition Leader is plotting to foil polls, has said the people will vote on Jan 5 defying all hurdles.
“People want to cast their ballots. They will vote defying all obstacles,” she said at a rally in Gopalganj on Friday.The Awmi League President asked the people to resist the Opposition’s attempt to thwart the elections.Hasina criticised the Opposition for 'killing' a policeman by hurling bomb in Rajshahi.At least nine policemen were injured in a bomb attack on Thursday. Of them a police constable succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka on that ill-fated night.Hasina said, “Policemen are being attacked at her (Khaleda’s) directive. Policemen will not sit idle now.”
Hasina said Opposition Leader Khaleda Zia did not want the people to remain in peace.“She was not upset with Pakistan’s parliament adopting a resolution. She was upset with the execution of Quader Molla.”Pakistan’s parliament adopted a resolution criticising hanging of war criminal Abdul Quader Molla.The Prime Minister alleged the activists of BNP and its ally Jamaat-e-Islami were ‘burning people to death at the instruction’ of the BNP Chairperson.Hasina said Bangladesh was purged of the stigma of a ‘militant and terrorist state’ after the Awami League had come to power.“Bangladesh has now turned into a role model of peace and development,” she said.Central and local Awami League leaders also addressed the rally held at the Shahid Minar intersection at Kotaliparha.
