Denouncing the barbarous attacks on the Hindu community across the country after the January 5 general election, development activists on Thursday demanded immediate steps to bring to book the people involved in the attacks.
The call came from a human chain organized by the Development Activists in front of the National Press Club in the capital yesterday morning.
Speaking on the occasion, executive director of Manusher Jonno Foundation Shaheen Anam said although attacks on Hindus were carried out across the country, the government has not yet taken any legal step against the attackers.
She urged the government to take stern action against the communal elements so they cannot dare carry out any such communal attack on minority groups in the future.
Wave Foundation executive director Mohsin Ali alleged that the fundamental forces are carrying out attacks on Hindu minority to foil the efforts to build a non-communal, democratic Bangladesh.
“A mass resistance must be forged against the communal forces to continue democracy and development in the country,” he said.
Hundreds of development activists joined the human chain.
