Comilla: Train movement on the Dhaka-Chittagong and Chittagong-Sylhet routes, which remained suspended following derailment of a container train in Nangolkot upazila, resumed after a halt for nine hours on Saturday.
Abdul Halim, assistant engineer of Feni railway station, said train movement on the routes, which was suspended after four bogies of a container train veered off the tracks at Nangolkot railway station early Saturday, came back to normal at 11:00am.
Train services were restored after a relief train from Laksham rushed to the spot and salvaged the derailed compartments, he said.
However, there was no report of any causality.
Three trains, including Chittagong-bound ‘Meghna Express’ from Chandpur at Chitoshi, Chittagong-bound ‘Chatrala Express’ from Dhaka at Laksham and Sylhet-bound ‘Udoyon Express’ from Chittagong at Feni had got stranded following the derailment.
