The cabinet committee on public purchase on Sunday approved 13 proposals including eight from the power and Mineral Resources Ministry for refined oil import for the first of the current calendar year.
The cabinet committee at its 4th meeting, chaired by Finance Minister AMA Muhith at the Cabinet Division, approved the import of about 17 lakh tonnes of various fuels, including gas oil, kerosene, high-speed oil, octane and furnace oil, worth Tk 10,666 crore from eight different suppliers in China, UAE, Indonesia, Kuwait, Malaysia, the Philippines and Vietnam.
The committee has also approved the allocation of about Tk 101 crore to build roads, bridges and culverts under the Eastward Extension of Madani Avenue (from Pragati Sarani intersection to Balu river) (Amended) Project of Housing and Public Works Ministry.
Allocations of about Tk 28 crore and about Tk 5.29 crore were approved by the committee for the Uttara Ideal Residential City (3rd phase) Project and purchasing services for the BRTA-IS Software.
Besides, the committee also approved the import of about one lakh tonne TSP (triple super phosphate) fertilizer worth Tk 405 crore and another one lakh tonne DAP (diammonium phosphate) fertilizer worth Tk 487 crore from Morocco under government-to-government contract.
An allocation of about Tk 2 crore was also approved under miscellaneous category.
