The business leaders yesterday assured that they would assist the government in starting work to beautify the government hospitals in the capital.
The assurance was given during a views-exchange meeting of a delegation of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) and Bangladesh Association of Pharmaceutical Industries with Health Minister Mohammad Nasim at his office in the city yesterday.
Describing the government’s steps to remove illegal establishments, including shops, surrounding the government hospitals, the Health Minister said the process to reclaim the government’s land in hospitals has started.
Observing that beautification, including gardening, in the open spaces of the hospital areas is needed to give the process a permanent shape, he said: “But, it’s not possible for the government alone to ensure a lovely environment for treatment at the hospitals through creating an aesthetic beauty.”
He urged the private entrepreneurs as well as organizations to come forward in this regard.
Mohammad Nasim also said the beautification program will be extended to other divisional cities and districts in phases.
