The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Bangladesh on Saturday signed a cooperation agreement to work jointly in prospective areas.
FBCCI President Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed, first vice-president Monowara Hakim Ali, vice-president Helal Uddin, Chief of Mission, IOM, Bangladesh Sarat Dash with five members team were present at the signing ceremony.
The FBCCI chief said the agreement will create opportunity to work together and to undertake various joint projects in areas that relate to IOM competence, such as labor migration, counter-trafficking activities, technical assistance, post-conflict demobilization and rehabilitation, poverty reduction, promotion of economic growth and support for human development.
There are immense scope for FBCCI and IOM to collaborate in relief and rehabilitation programs, ensure the rights of migrant workers in different countries, he said.
Sarat Dash briefed about the activities of IOM and highlighted about the partnership between FBCCI and IOM.
He stressed the need to exchange information on best practices, in-kind support, and direct financial contribution into projects for migrants and trafficking survivors.
