PM hosts Iftar for professionals

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday hosted an Iftar for professionals at Ganabhaban.

Vice-chancellors and teachers of public and private universities, journalists, physicians, engineers, lawyers and businessmen were among the guests.

The Prime Minister exchanged pleasantries with the guests.

A munajat was offered seeking continued peace, progress and prosperity of the nation.

Prayers were also offered seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib and other victims of August 15 massacre, martyrs of War of Liberation and heroes of the democratic movements.

Khatib of Baitul Mokarram National Mosque Moulana M Salauddin Ahmed conducted the munajat. National Professor Salauddin Ahmed, eminent jurist Barrister Rafiqul Huq, chief of army staff general Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan, chief of naval staff Vice-Admiral M Farid Habib, chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Mohammad Enamul Bari, Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, Bangladesh Football Federation President Kazi Salahuddin, FBCCI president Kazi Akramuddin Ahmed, Attorney General Mahbubey Alam, Professor Rehman Sobhan, eminent writer Syed Shamsul Huq, renowned painter Quyum Chowdhury, UGC Chairman Professor AK Azad Chowdhury, Samakal Editor Golam Sarwar, agriculturist Amirul Islam, engineer nazrul Islam, National University VC Dr Harunur Rashid, Jagannath University VC Dr Mizanur Rahman, Bangla Academy Director General Shamsuzzaman Khan, BMA president Dr Mahmud Hasan and BFUJ president Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul, Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Eng Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain and AL presidium member Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim and PM's press secretary AKM Shameem Chowdhury attended the ifter. Besides, Managing Director and Chief Editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Abul Kalam Azad, Editor-in-Chief of UNB Enayetullah Khan, UNB chief news editor Mahfuzur Rahman, DUJ president Altaf Mahmud, general secretary Quddus Afrad, BMA secretary general Iqbal Arsnal, eminent journalist Shafiqur Rahman, eminent lawyer Abdul Baset Majumder, poet Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, Prof Dr Abdul Mannan Chowdhury, former Chittagong University VC Prof Abdul Mannan, DRU president Shahed Chowdhury, Sammiliti Sangskritik Jote President Nasir Uddin Yousuf Bachhu joined the iftar, among others. Players and officials of Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club, which become champions in the Premier Division Football League, also joined the iftar.
