Trading at the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) started the week in positive as their key share price index continued consecutive gain on Sunday.
Prices of most of the issues increased on the sixth consecutive session in recent days.
The DSE benchmark index, DSEX reached highest ever 4758 points in recent months while the day’s turnover was slightly higher than previous days.
Trading at both the DSE and CSE began on positive note in the morning on Sunday, and ended the day with moderate gain. The volume of trade in terms of value was higher both in DSE and CSE on the day than on Thursday.
The DSE benchmark index, DSEX gained 55.71 points or 1.18 percent to reach 4758.37 at the close of trading on Sunday. Of the 294 issues traded, 161 gained, 114 declined and 19 remained unchanged.
Most of the traded issues of the day included those from mutual fund, banking, pharmaceuticals, Textile and Petroleum sectors.
Shares worth Tk 859 crore changed hands at the DSE on the day against Tk 833.60 crore on Thursday.
The day’s top 10 gainers at the DSE were Rupali Bank, Saiham Textile, Phoenix Insurance, National Bank, Premier Bank, 8th ICB, 6th ICB, ICB 3rd NRB, Northern Insurance and Shahjalal Islami Bank.
Square Pharmaceuticals, Olympic, Padma Oil, Orion Pharma and Meghna Petroleum were the top most traded issues at the DSE in terms of value while United Air, UCBL and National Bank were the most traded on the in terms of volume.
The CSE key index, CSCX gained 125.67 points to reach 9359.82 at the close today. Of the 236 issues traded, 124 advanced, 106 suffered loss and 6 remained unchanged. The value of the traded issues was Tk 74.80 crore on the day against Tk 69.52 crore on Tuesday.
Earlier, in the morning the DSE benchmark index, DSEX gained 47.38 points or 1.00 (one) percent to reach 4750.05 at 11:20 am while the CSCX gained 84.05 points to stand at 9318.20, also at 11:20 am yesterday.
