Bangladesh Railway has started selling of advance train tickets from Sunday to facilitate the journey of homebound people ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
The tickets sale began at Kamalapur rail station in the city around 9 am.
Hundreds of peopled started to throng the station after Sehri. They were seen waiting in long queues for collecting tickets for July 24.
The tickets for the journey of July 25 will be sold on Monday.
Tickets for July 26 will be sold on July 22 and that of July 27 on July 23 and tickets for July 28 will be available on July 24.
The return tickets for the journey of July 31 to August 4 will be sold on July 27 to July 31.
One person will be allowed to buy maximum four tickets.
Meanwhile, additional security has been beefed up at some important railway stations, including Dhaka, Chittagong and Rajshahi. Police, Rab, BGB, Ansar, RNB and GRP members will be deployed at the railway stations to maintain law and order.
A total of 10 trains will run on several routes three days before the Eid and three days after the Eid.
Some 166 coaches will be added to the existing ones while 205 engines will be put on operation across the country to ensure smooth train services ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
