Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu on Sunday said the United States should take proper steps to stop Israeli attacks on Gaza instead of interfering in Bangladesh politics.

The minister made the remark while addressing a rally arranged by president of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Jasad) in front of the Jatiya Press Club in protest against Israeli attacks on Palestinian people.

Inu, also Jasad president, said, “The silence of the United States proves that they support the Gaza attacks...they haven’t stood against the attacks. They were also silent about the terrorist activities unleashed by BNP-Jamaat in Bangladesh.”

The Information Minister asked the newly appointed US envoy to Bangladesh to suggest BNP shun militancy and violence before sitting in negotiations for a fresh election.

He said Israel is killing innocent people, including women and children, which is obviously a crime against humanity. “Every nation should come forward to put an end to such heinous crimes.”

Terming Israel as a terrorist country, the minister said Israel alone has kept the entire Middle East volatile as the US always support them without taking an initiative to stop war. “Similarly, the US had supported Pakistan during the 1971 war against Bangladesh’s liberation.”

Jasad Dhaka city unit coordinator Mir Hossain Akhter, joint coordinator Nurul Akhtar, Dhaka North city unit president Shafiuddin Mollah, Jasad central leader Nader Chowdhury also spoke at the program.
