The Liberation War Affairs Ministry on Monday cancelled fake freedom fighter certificates of 35 people, including 28 government officials.
The ministry issued a gazette notification in this regard on Monday.
The freedom fighter certificates were cancelled as they could not prove themselves as freedom fighters, said the notification.
Of them, 30 fake certificates were cancelled on the basis of investigation by the National Security Intelligence (NSI) while two others were canalled based on the report of deputy commissioner, another two for not having proper age and another one for mentioning double addresses.
Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque told reporters that a letter will be sent to the Public Administration Ministry to take departmental action against the government officials whose freedom fighter certificates were proved fake and also to cancel their financial and other facilities they availed of using the fake certificates.
