Rajshahi: Two people were killed and three others injured as a truck plunged into a roadside ditch at Moslem More on the Kharkhari Bypass Road under Matihar thana in the city early Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Abdur Rahim, 35, son of Jhatu Rahim, a resident of Bishwanathpur village, and Abdul Kader,30, son of Ansar Ali, a resident of Manoharpur village in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj district.
Masudur Rahman, sub-inspector of Matihar Police Station, said the Chittagong-bound mango-laden truck from Chapainawabganj skidded off and fell into the ditch beside the Kharkhari Bypass Road at about 3:00 am after its driver lost control over the steering, leaving the duo dead on the spot and three others injured.
On information, police from Matihar Police Station recovered the bodies and sent those to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The injured were rushed to the hospital.
Police seized the truck but its driver and helper managed to flee the scene.
A case was filed.
