Bangladeshi shot killed by BSF

Meherpur: A Bangladeshi young man was shot killed by members of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) in Sonapur Majhpara bordering area of Mujibnagar upazila on Friday night.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Khalek, 30, a cattle trader and son of Dhulu Mallik of Sonapur Majhpara village in the upazila.

Border Guard Bangladesh sources said the BSF troops from Sutia 119 camp in Nadia district opened fire on a group of cattle traders when Khalek along with others went to the bordering area near main pillar no 107 for bringing cattle around 11:30 pm, leaving him critically injured.

Later he was rushed to Meherpur General Hospital where doctors declared him dead.

BGB Chuadanga-6 Battalion CO Major Anwar Jahid said a letter has been sent to BSF protesting the incident and a flag meeting will be held on Saturday afternoon.
