A court here on Monday deferred until October 30 the hearing on charge framing against BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and 28 other leaders of the party in connection with a violence case.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate of Dhaka Ali Masud Sheikh passed the order upon a petition submitted by the defence counsel seeking time.
The time petition was submitted as the main counsel of the defence Sanaullah Miah was in London.
The court also granted permanent bail to all the accused after their lawyer M Masud Ahmed Talukdar filed an appeal to the court as the 29 were released on ad interim bail.
Twenty eight BNP leaders including Mirza Fakhrul appeared before the court today while the party’s student affairs secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie was absent.
Ramna police filed the case against BNP leader Mirza Fakhrul and others in connection with the vandalizing vehicles and torching those in the city’s Shantibagh area from a procession on March 2, 2013.
Sub-inspector Ashkaf Gazi, also investigation officer of the case, submitted charge sheet against 29 BNP leaders to the court May 14, 2014.
