Five drug peddlers held in Panchagarh

Panchagarh: Police arrested five people on charge of selling and taking hemp at Panchpir union parishad in Boda upazila on Monday.

The arrested are Aminul Islam, 50, his wife Saheda Begum,45, residents of Harinimaipara village of Panchpir union parishad, Monir Hossain, 25, son of Abdul Jabbar, Dulal Hossain, 32, son of Afsar Ali, and Abul Quasem, 32, son of Hazrat Ali of the same union.

Police sources said on a tip-off, a team of police, headed by Boda Police Station sub-inspector Din Mohammad, conducted a drive at Aminul Islam’s house at Harinimaipara village in Panchpir union parishad and arrested him along with his wife and three others.

Aminul and his wife were arrested for selling hemp while the three others for taking the cannabis item.

Police also recovered 50 grams of hemp from the house.
