The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) on Tuesday initiated a move against former judge Faruq Ahmed as allegations surfaced that he acquitted a large number of accused in several cases by abusing his power.
The Commission at its regular meeting on Tuesday appointed a two-member probe team, led by its deputy director Jatan Kumar Roy, to conduct an inquiry against former judge of Dhaka Special Judge Court Faruq Ahmed, ACC source said.
According to the allegations received by the ACC, just before going to retirement recently, Faruq Ahmed acquitted many accused in 15 sensational cases by taking bribe.
It was also alleged that eleven accused, including seven foreign nationals, got relief in three sensational drug smuggling cases from his court in a month by giving a huge amount of bribe to him.
Faruq Ahmed went into retirement in July 2014.
