The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) will interrogate former Health Minister Dr AFM Ruhal Haque and former State Minister for Water Resources Mahbubur Rahman in the last week of February on charges of amassing wealth illegally.
The ACC will question Dr Ruhal Haque on February 24 and Mahbubur Rahman on February 23, sources at the Commission said yesterday.
The Commission on Wednesday sent notices to the former minister and state minister asking them to appear in person at the ACC head office on the stipulated date to face grilling.
Earlier, on January 22, the ACC appointed seven inquiry officials to conduct probes into the allegations of amassing wealth illegally by seven politicians, including Ruhal Haque and Mahbub.
As per the affidavit submitted to the Election Commission for the recently held 10th parliamentary polls, wealth of Ruhal Haque has increased by Tk 10 crore while that of Mahbub has increased by 8,422 percent to nearly Tk 2 crore.
On February 4, the assigned ACC inquiry officer visited Patuakhali-4 constituency to collect information as part of his probe into the allegations of illegal wealth accumulated by Mahbub.
While in power for the last five years, Mahbub reportedly acquired 2,865 acres of land by abusing his official position, said the ACC sources.
