One held along with 2.2 kg gold at airport

Customs Intelligence officials seized 2.2 kg gold and arrested a person in this connection at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Wednesday morning.

The arrestee was identified as MA Rashid, 47, a resident of Comilla district.

Sources at Customs Intelligence at the airport said a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines of ‘BG 87’ from Malaysia landed at the airport around 6am.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of the intelligence challenged Rashid when he was coming out of the airport through the green channel and recovered 1.5 kg gold from his possession.

The team also recovered 700 grams of gold from four other passengers of the flight.

The market value of the gold was estimated at about Tk 1.10 crore.
