4 killed in Rangpur, Magura road mishaps

Four people were killed and 25 others injured in separate road accidents in different areas of Rangpur and Magura districts on Wednesday morning.

In Rangpur, two people were killed and 10 others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck on the Rangpur-Kurigram Highway in Kawnia upazila early in the morning.

The deceased were identified as Sirajul Islam, 36, son of Moinuddin, and Shafiqul Islam, 32, son of Wahab Ali in Bhurungamari upazila of Kurigram.

Police said the accident took place around 5:30am when a Bhurungamari-bound bus from Dhaka collided with a truck at Mirbagh-Bijolghanti, leaving two bus passengers dead on the spot and 15 others injured.

The injured were admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital and Kawnia Upazila Health Complex.

Of the 15 injured, seven were to be stated in a critical condition.

In Magura, two people were killed as a bus collided with a truck on the Magura-Jhenidah Highway in Sadar upazila in the morning.

One of the deceased was identified as Jewel Rana, 35, a resident of Chuadanga.

Police and hospital sources said the Dhaka-bound bus from Chuadanga collided head- on with the truck coming from the opposite direction at Chhoto Bridge near Ishakhada Bazar around 08:30am and later, the two vehicles plunged into a ditch beside the highway, killing two bus passengers, including Juwel, on the spot and injuring 10 others.

The injured were taken to Sadar Hospital.
