The work to install central effluent treatment plant (CETP) at the Leather Industrial Park is progressing well, said officials of the Industries Ministry on Monday.
Speaking at a meeting to evaluate the progress made in the implementation of the Annual Development Programs (ADP) of the current fiscal under the ministry, the officials also informed that so far 1,027 entrepreneurs have submitted the lay-out plans for the infrastructure projects against the plots allocated to them.
Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu also stressed ensuring fast completion of the construction works at the Industrial Park in Savar.
Fast relocation of the tannery industry is needed not only for protecting the environment, but also to make sure that the country’s leather and leather goods exports keep escalating in coming years, he observed.
Officials in the meeting informed that until February this year, about 51.1 percent of the ADP allocation under the ministry has been spent.
The meeting was also addressed by Industries Secretary Mohammad Moinuddin Abdullah.
