3 ‘robbers’ beaten to death in Noakhali

Noakhali: Three alleged robbers were beaten to death in a lynch-mob attack at Jagdananda village in Kabirhat uapzila early Saturday.
Of the deceased, one was identified as Azad, 32, son of Abdur Rab of the village, while identity of two others could not be known immediately.
Locals said a gang of 10-11 robbers entered the house of Enayet Bapari in the area at about 1:00 am.
At one stage, the bandits stabbed five house inmates, including Enayet Bepari and his son Manju, as they tried to resist them, leaving them injured.
Hearing hue and cry of the other inmates, locals rushed to the spot and chased off the robbers.
The robbers fired two rounds of bullet to run safely.
However, locals caught two robbers while fleeing.
Later, the mob beat them mercilessly, leaving them dead on the spot.
Of the injured, Harun, 58, Saddam, 28, and Abdur Rahim, 32, were rushed to Noakhali General Hospital.
Meanwhile, locals caught four more robbers from different parts of the upazila while their other associates ma-naged to flee.
They gave the robbers a good thrashing, leaving them injured.
Later they were rushed to Noakhali General Hospital where another unidentified robber died.
Being informed, police rushed in and sent the bodies to hospital morgue.
Two LGs and 12 rounds of bullet were recovered from the spot.
Illias Sharif, superintendent of Noakhali police, confirmed the death of the three robbers.
