3 Rab men make ‘confessions’
Narayanganj: Three members of Rab-11, who were arrested on Wednesday, reportedly made their ‘confessional’ statements separately on Saturday over their involvement in the sensation seven-murder incident.
The statement of Habildar Emdadul Haq was recorded at the court of senior judicial magistrate Chandni Rupam while that of Sepahi Abu Tayub at the court of senior judicial magistrate Monwara Begum and that of lance nayek Hira Miah at the court of senior judicial magistrate AK Mohiuddin.
Superintendent of police of Naraynagnaj Dr Khandaker Mohiduddin said they confessed under section 164 of the penal code.
Earlier on Wednesday, police arrested five members of Raid Action Battalion (Rab) -- Emdadul Haque, Arif Hossain, Hira Mia, Bilal Hossain and Abu Tayab -- in connection with the seven-murder case.
Later, they were put on an eight-day remand.
On April 27, Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam, his three associates and driver were abducted from Fatullah area in Narayanganj city. Hours into their abduction, senior lawyer of the Narayanganj District Judge’s Court, Chandan Kumar Sarker, and his driver were abducted on their way to capital Dhaka.
Three days into their abduction, the bodies of six people, including that of Nazrul and Chandan, were recovered from the Shitalakhya River on April 30. Besides, the body of Jahangir, the car driver of Nazrul Islam, was recovered from the river on May 1.
Three former Rab officials, including Lt Col Tareque, Major Arif Hossain, Lt Commander MM Rana, who were arrested earlier, confessed to their involvement in the sensational seven murders.
