Earlier, police conducted a drive at Suhrawardy Hall of the university following a clash between activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir and Chattra League on August 24. Police recovered some petrol bombs and stones from the dormitory.
The university authorities closed the hall for an indefinite period the following day.
Besides, Shah Amanat Hall was shut earlier as police sealed off the Shibir- dominated dormitory following a fierce clash between Bangladesh Chhatra League and Islami Chhatra Shibir activists on January 12 which left two students dead.
Meanwhile, the resident students of the two halls under the banner of ‘Residential Students of Hall’ on Thursday called a strike from Sunday demanding reopening of the halls.
