Leaders of different political parties in Dhaka on Wednesday agreed to work together for forming an alternative political force to restore democracy and healthy politics, aiming to run the country in light of the Liberation War spirit.
The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Gonoforum President Dr Kamal Hossain at his Motijheel law chamber.
The meeting, which elaborately discussed the country’s overall situation, also decided to hold another parley with other democratic and progressive political forces and individuals to forge the alternative political force.
A five-member sub-committee was formed at the meeting to prepare a draft for the proposed initiative.
Communist Party of Bangladesh president Mujahidul Islam Selim and its leader Monjurul Ahsan Khan, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) president ASM Abdur Rob, Nagorik Oikya convener Mahamur Rahman Manna, among others, were present at the meeting.
