CTO forum begins in city
Staff Reporter The three-day ‘Commonwealth Telecommunications Organization (CTO) Forum 2014’ began in the city on Monday. The 2014 Forum will focus on key aspects of ICT access and utilization, including infrastructure, connectivity, applications, value added services, data and security. Bangladesh Government and Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) jointly organised the international conference for the first time in the country. Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Abdul Latif Siddique inaugurated the forum at city’ Hotel Radisson in the morning. In the opening ceremony, Abdul Latif Siddique said” We have started the work of building digital Bangladesh since the pervious regime of the government according to the election manifesto.” The ministry took initiatives to introduce e-government in all departments of the government by 2015, he said. State Minister for ICT Junaid Ahmed Palak, Post and Telecommunication secretary Faizur Rahman Chowdhury, Nigerian Communication executive vice- chairman Dr Eugene Uwash, ICT secretary Nazrul Islam Khan, CTO chairperson JUma Kandie, CTO secretary General Prof. Tim Unwin and BTRC chairman Sunil Kanti Bose address at the forum. Some 270 participants from 53 Commonwealth countries have been participating in the forum.
