Chittagong: A woman was slaughtered allegedly by her daughter-in-law at Barumchhara village in Anwara upazila early Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Sohagh Khatun, wife of Fazlul Haque of the village.
Police said Jasim Uddin, son of Fazlul Haque, married Naima Deen Liza barely three months back.
However, Jasim found no charm in the married life and started spending time visiting shrines which led to a marital discord between the couple.
Hearing screams coming out from Fazlul’s house around 12:10am on Wednesday, locals rushed in and found that Liza had slaughtered his mother-in-law.
Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for autopsy. They also arrested Liza.
A case was filed in this connection.
Kamal Hossain, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Anwara Police Station, said they have launched an investigating into the incident.
