Teachers’ association of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) on Saturday opposed the newly appointed vice chancellor Prof Khaleda Ekram, also the first woman in the post, two days into her appointment.
The decision came from a general meeting of the teachers’ association in the evening, Buet Teachers’ Association president Prof Dr Zoynul Abedin told.
‘’ We are ‘frustrated’ and ‘angered’ in the decision about the appointment of the new VC’’, he said.
The association will urge the President and chancellor of the university to reconsider the decision, added Dr Abedin.
Earlier in the morning on Saturday, Professor Khaleda Ekram, a teacher of the Architecture Department of Buet, formally took over charge.
President Abdul Hamid, also Chancellor of the university, appointed Prof Khaleda Ekram, as its first woman vice chancellor on September 11 for a four-year term.
