Housewife killed by husband for dowry

Panchagarh: A housewife was beaten to death allegedly by her husband for dowry in Boda upazila of the district on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Mukti Rani, 25, daughter of Goynath Chandra Roy, a resident of Charpara village.
Family sources said Anukul Chandra Roy, 29, son of Narendra Chandra alias Naresh and a resident of Gederkuri Bangram village, had married Mukti five years back.
Since after their marriage, he used to torture her to bring dowry from her parents.
Police and locals said Anukul beat Mukti following an altercation over the same issue on Friday afternoon, leaving her dead on the spot.
Mizanur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Boda police station, confirmed the incident.
The body was recovered and sent to Panchagarh Modern Sadar Hospital for an autopsy.
