Pirojpur: Two policemen were injured after being beaten up by a group of local people when trying to pick up an alleged drug peddler from Sohagdal village in Nesarabad upazila on Sunday.
Nesarabad Police Station officer-in-charge PS Monirul Islam said sub-inspector Mizanur Rahman and constable Yusuf went to the grocery shop of Sohel at Hazirpur village around 7:30pm, based on the information that hemp was being traded at the shop.
When the duo attempted to arrest Sohel, a group of local people swooped on them and beat them. The mob also kept them confined in the shop.
