Blast at CHT regional council office
A Correspondent Rangamati: Five vehicles were damaged following a blast at Chittagong Hill Tracts Regional Council Office in sadar upazila early Monday. Witnesses said the explosion occurred with a big bang at the premises of the council office around 3:30 am. However, none was hurt in the incident. Police, intelligence forces and army cordoned off the area following the blast and a team of army explosives experts collected some evidence from the spot. Deputy Commissioner Mohamamd Mostafa Kamal and other senior officials of the local administration visited the spot. Barun Chakma, special assistant to CHT regional council chairman Santu Larma, said miscreants might have carried out the attack for creating panic among people. He demanded immediate arrest and punishment of the attackers. Anwar Hossain, sub-inspector of Kotwami Police Station, said primarily it is suspected that it was a grenade explosion.
