Japanese envoy hands over books, journals to DU
Staff Reporter Shiro Sadoshima, Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh, on Tuesday handed over 45 books, journals and magazines on Japanese culture and lifestyle to the Japan Study Centre of the University of Dhaka. The books, including those authored by Akie Abe, the First Lady of Japan, were received from “Akie Library”. The book handing over ceremony was held at the Ambassador’s office, said a press release of Japanese Embassy in Dhaka. On behalf of the Japan Study Centre, Abdullah-Al-Mamun, Assistant Professor; M Jahangir Alam, Lecturer and a few student representatives were present at the ceremony. Citing the wishes of Akie Abe, Ambassador Sadoshima expressed his hope that the students of the Japan Study Centre would make best use of these new study materials to better understand Japan and the Japanese language. In response, Mamun expressed the Center’s heartfelt gratitude to Akie Abe for the gift which is a symbol of “Japan-Bangladesh Comprehensive Partnership,” and articulated their intention of maximum utilization of the learning materials.
