Sylhet: The authorities of MC College here kept suspended the admissions process for Master’s following a threat issued by local Bangladesh Chhatra League.
Campus sources said the deadline for the admissions into Degree pass course ended about two months ago.
However, the local BCL was pressurizing the college authorities to get their activists admitted.
On Wednesday morning, around 300 students turned up to fill up their Master’s admissions forms.
But, Hiron Mahmud Nipu, former district BCL president, made a phone call to Principal Nitai Chandra Chanda over his mobile phone and told him to keep the registration process halted until their men are admitted to Degree course.
Following the threat, the college authorities suspended the admissions activities, causing immense sufferings to the candidates.
Nipu said he asked the Principal to stop the activities at the order of his seniors.
Contacted, Principal Nitai Chandra Chanda said they have talked to the BCL men to settle the matter.
